Hatred Assassin (Hungering) 7.8+

Hatred Assassin (Hungering) 7.8+

By [Sirk]Usaska

Not to be mistaken with the Maliciousness build, the Hungering setup offers a variation on the Hatred spec that changes how your burst windows and fillers function. This build is named after the specific choice at Level 43, focusing on a different interaction with your core abilities.

Skill Tree Setup (Single Target / Boss Focus)

For single target and boss encounters, use the Hungering tree configuration:

  • Hungering Focus: Unlike the Maliciousness build, your Recklessness does not reset the cooldown for Eradicate. Instead, it provides a straight damage increase, making your priority window more focused on raw power.

Stat Priority & Gear Setup

This build shares the same stat thresholds as the Maliciousness spec to maintain consistent GCD flow.

Accuracy

  • 2694 Accuracy (110%)
Ensures all DoTs and melee strikes land consistently on Operation bosses.

Alacrity

Target 2200 – 2300 Alacrity for a stable GCD.

  • 1.4s GCD: 2054 (7.14%)

With Alacrity Guild Perk:

  • 1.4s GCD: 560
  • 1.3s GCD: 3209

Legendary Implants & Tactical

  • Legendary Implants: Dynamic Force & Force Training
  • Tactical: Two Time Trouble
    • Note: Two Time Trouble remains the best-in-slot for doubling up your periodic damage ticks.

Core Rotation & Key Differences

The Hungering rotation relies more heavily on Thrash as a filler and stacks for your main spenders.

  1. DoT Application: Keep Discharge and Creeping Terror active.
  2. Recklessness: Use to boost your overall damage output (does not reset Eradicate).
  3. Eradicate: Use on cooldown/proc.
  4. Thrash (x5): Use Thrash five times to build your stacks and maintain pressure.
  5. Leeching Strike: Use for high-impact damage and survivability.
  6. Assassinate: Use as your primary finisher when the target is below 30%.

Playstyle Notes

  • Stack Management: Pay close attention to your Thrash count; it is a more prominent part of this rotation compared to other Hatred builds.
  • Buff Tracking: Since Recklessness doesn’t reset your Eradicate cooldown here, time your big hits carefully during the damage buff window.
