SWTOR End Game Gear Builder:

Flat Bonuses Explained

In Patch 7.8, only a small group of specs receive flat, permanent secondary stat bonuses (Alacrity or Accuracy) from their discipline trees. Most other classes rely on temporary “procs” or gear to hit their numbers.

Important note: Most of these are passive but you need to be either in combat or they need to be maintained through certain conditions or stacks. They are included into the gear builder already, but it might not reflect in-game in your out of combat state.

Here are the specific specs with permanent, flat stat bonuses and the names of the passives providing them:

1. Alacrity Passives (The “GCD Shifters”)

These are the most important because they directly lower the amount of Alacrity rating you need on your gear to hit faster Global Cooldowns.

Combat StyleSpecializationPassive NameBonus
Sith Sorcerer / Jedi SageLightning / TelekineticsFocal Lightning / Mental Momentum+5% Alacrity
Sith Marauder / Jedi SentinelCarnage / CombatAtaru Form+3% Alacrity
Mercenary / CommandoArsenal / GunneryMuon Cell / Integrated Systems+3% Alacrity

2. Accuracy Passives

Only the “pure” sniper/gunslinger archetype gets a flat accuracy boost, making it significantly easier for them to hit the 110% PvE cap.

Sniper / GunslingerAll SpecsTargeting / Steady Hands+3% Accuracy

3. Critical & Mastery Passives

While these don’t change your GCD or “Miss” chance, they provide a flat floor for your damage potential.

  • Sith Assassin (Deception) / Jedi Shadow (Infiltration):
    • Passive: Crackling Blasts / Deep Impact
    • Bonus: +3% Critical Hit Chance (specifically for Melee and Force attacks).
  • Imperial Agent (All) / Smuggler (All):
    • Passive: Imperial Education / No-Good Strategy
    • Bonus: +5% Mastery (Note: This is a “Class Passive” unlocked early on, but Agents/Smugglers specifically benefit from it as a baseline).
  • Powertech (Pyrotech) / Vanguard (Plasmatech):
    • Passive: Rain of Fire / Plasma Cell
    • Bonus: +3% Internal/Elemental Damage (Acts as a flat stat-like increase to specific damage types).

4. Important Clarification on Healers

no healer spec currently receives a permanent, flat 3% or 5% Alacrity bonus in their passive tree for 7.8. They must reach their Alacrity goals (usually the 15.39% / 3206 rating for the 1.3s GCD) entirely through gear, crystals, and guild perks.

5. Tank Passive Shield Bonuses

These bonuses are built into the “stances” or discipline-specific passives of each tank combat style:

Tank SpecPassive NameFlat Shield Bonus
Powertech (Shield Tech) / Vanguard (Shield Specialist)Ion Gas Cylinder / Ion Cell+8% Shield Chance
Assassin (Darkness) / Shadow (Kinetic Combat)Dark Charge / Combat Technique+15% Shield Chance
Juggernaut (Immortal) / Guardian (Defense)Soresu Form (Integrated into “Conquering Defense”)+4% Shield Chance

Critical Active Passives (Must be Maintained)

While the bonuses above are permanent, two of the tanks rely on “active” passives that you must trigger during your rotation to reach their full defensive potential:

Juggernaut/Guardian (+3% extra): Using Aegis Assault / Warding Strike grants a temporary buff that increases your Shield Chance and Absorb by 3% for 15 seconds.

Assassin/Shadow (+18% extra): You must keep Dark Ward / Kinetic Ward active at all times. This provides a massive +18% Shield Chance boost. If this falls off, your survivability drops significantly.
